Understanding Filtech

What exactly does Filtech do?

Filtech is a water technology company. We design, install, and maintain water purification and delivery systems across three areas: bottleless water dispensers for offices and workplaces, under-sink and desktop purification systems for homes, and custom-engineered water treatment for schools, restaurants, healthcare, and industrial sites. We're not a bottled water company or a simple equipment reseller — every system we provide is backed by certified filtration technology and ongoing support after installation.

What makes Filtech different from other water solution providers in Kenya?

At Filtech, we believe providing a water solution is about more than selling equipment. We started Filtech to bring smarter, more innovative ways of accessing and using water while raising the standard for reliability and after-sales support.

We carefully select and provide modern water technology, take the time to understand each customer's needs, and remain committed to supporting our solutions long after installation. Our goal is to build lasting relationships, provide outstanding service and continuously improve how people access, use and experience water.

We don't just sell water technology. We stand behind it.

Why should we choose Filtech instead of continuing with bottled water?

Bottled water means ongoing per-bottle costs, delivery scheduling, storage space, and plastic waste that adds up week after week. It's also worth remembering that not every bottled water source is actually safe or guaranteed — quality can vary between brands and batches, and it's not always easy to verify. A Filtech system, whether in your office or your home, connects directly to your water supply and purifies on demand — consistent, verifiable quality through certified filtration, with no bottles to store or reorder, plus features bottled water can't offer, like hot, cold, ambient, ice, and sparkling water from a single connected system.

How do I know which Filtech solution is right for my organisation or home?

It depends on your space, team or household size, and water source — exactly what our free site survey is for. For offices, we assess team size and layout to recommend a dispenser model. For homes, we assess your water source (municipal or borehole) to recommend RO or UF filtration. Talk to a water expert and we'll recommend the right fit, not a generic package.

Bottleless Dispensers

What is a bottleless water dispenser and how does it work?

It connects directly to your existing water supply and purifies water on demand through 5-stage filtration — no bottles to store, carry, or replace. Water is filtered fresh every time you dispense, not stored in an open bottle for days at a time.

How do I choose between your different dispenser models?

It comes down to team size and features. Rising Cloud suits standard offices of 20–30 people with full smart controls. Smart Cloud, Smart Ice, and Smart Sparkling scale up for 30–60 people, adding a built-in ice maker and sparkling water respectively. Royal Cloud covers the same 30–60 person range with a simplified control set for budget-conscious teams. See the full model comparison — all five run the same 5-stage filtration, so water quality doesn't vary by model, only capacity and features.

Can a bottleless dispenser cover a large office, and can you deploy across multiple floors or locations?

Yes to both. Our range scales up to 60 people per unit, and for larger sites we install multiple units across floors, departments, or separate office locations as part of one coordinated deployment — managed through a single point of contact on our end rather than treating each site as a separate job.

Can your dispensers provide hot, cold and ambient water?

Yes — hot, cold, and room-temperature water is standard across the range, selected through the unit's touch panel.

Can Filtech connect purified water directly to our coffee machines?

Yes — every dispenser in our office range supports coffee machine integration, so your coffee station runs off the same purified water supply instead of needing its own separate filtration.

Can Filtech provide sparkling water and ice-making solutions?

Yes — Smart Ice includes a built-in ice maker, and Smart Sparkling adds sparkling water on top of that. Both are genuine workplace amenities, not add-on accessories bolted onto a standard unit.

For Procurement & Corporate Buyers

Do you offer a free trial or demonstration before we commit?

Yes. You can book a free demo to see and experience a dispenser in person before committing to a lease or purchase — a real look at build quality, touch controls, and dispensing speed, not just a spec sheet. Talk to our team to arrange one for your office.

Can Filtech respond to a formal RFQ or tender process?

Yes — we regularly work with corporate procurement teams through formal RFQ and tender processes. Send us your requirements and documentation format, and our team will prepare a proposal that fits your procurement workflow.

Can you provide compliance certificates and documentation for our procurement records?

Yes. Our systems are manufactured and tested in compliance with WQA, NSF, CE, RoHS, ISO 9001, and ISO 14001 standards — see our full Technology & Certifications page — and we can provide the relevant documentation to support your internal compliance and vendor records.

Can you provide references or examples from other corporate clients?

Talk to our team about references relevant to your industry or site type — we're glad to share examples of comparable deployments where appropriate to support your evaluation process.

What service level can we expect if a dispenser goes down?

For corporate bottleless dispensers, we respond to breakdowns in 2 hours or less. Support is built into every lease and service agreement — not an optional extra or a separate call-out fee.

Can we get consolidated invoicing across multiple sites or branches?

Yes — for multi-site accounts, we can structure billing to match how your finance team prefers to manage it, including consolidated invoicing across locations. Discuss your specific setup with our team when scoping the agreement.

Can Filtech support our sustainability or ESG reporting?

Switching from bottled to bottleless water directly reduces single-use plastic consumption and delivery logistics — a concrete, measurable data point for sustainability reporting. Talk to our team about the specifics of your deployment if you need this documented for internal ESG reporting.

Can Filtech work directly with our procurement and facilities teams, including vendor onboarding?

Yes — we regularly work directly with procurement and facilities contacts on larger accounts, including completing standard vendor registration and onboarding requirements where needed.

Water Quality & Filtration

How is the water purified in a Filtech bottleless dispenser?

Through a 5-stage process: a PP filter removes visible sediment, a CTO carbon filter removes chlorine and odours, a reverse osmosis membrane removes dissolved solids and contaminants at a molecular level, a T33 post-carbon coconut filter polishes the taste, and a UV LED light provides a final sterilization step right before dispensing. See the full filtration glossary for how each stage works.

What is reverse osmosis and why might I need it?

Reverse osmosis forces water through a semi-permeable membrane fine enough to remove dissolved solids, heavy metals, and contaminants at a molecular level. It's the right choice when your water source is uncertain or variable — such as a borehole — or when you simply want the most thorough purification available.

Does Filtech's filtration remove fluoride and other dissolved contaminants?

The reverse osmosis stage used in our bottleless dispensers and the S7 home system is fine enough to remove dissolved contaminants, including fluoride, at a molecular level. Our UF-based systems, like U5, work differently — removing bacteria and microscopic impurities while retaining more of the water's natural mineral content.

How do I know when my filters need to be changed?

Most office dispenser models include live filter monitoring and alerts, so the system tells you when service is due. Royal Cloud includes a filter change alert system instead of live monitoring. On our home systems, S7 includes live monitoring, while U5 filters are changed on a set schedule confirmed by our team.

How does Filtech maintain consistent water quality over time?

Through a combination of multi-stage filtration, automatic sterilization and flushing between services, scheduled maintenance visits, and filter monitoring — so water quality doesn't quietly decline between check-ins the way it might with a system that's only serviced reactively.

Installation

How does installation work, and how disruptive is it?

Our own technicians handle the full installation, connecting the dispenser directly to your building's existing water supply — generally minimal disruption, typically completed in a single visit for standard setups. We can pipe well over 100 metres, so distance from your water source is rarely a limiting factor. Installation is free within Nairobi. Outside Nairobi, a separate installation charge applies — our team will confirm this as part of your quote.

Do we need plumbing or electrical connections?

Our dispensers need a water line connection and a standard power outlet. Our team assesses your existing setup during the site survey and handles the connection professionally — you don't need to arrange separate contractors.

Can you assess our site before recommending a solution?

Yes — every recommendation starts with a free site survey covering your water source, space, and usage needs, so the system we recommend is actually sized correctly for your site rather than a generic package.

How long does installation typically take?

Standard installations are typically completed within a single visit. Your site survey confirms exact timing, since it depends on your specific site layout and any additional piping work needed.

What happens after the dispenser has been installed?

Our team confirms the system is running correctly, walks you and your staff through operation, and sets up your scheduled maintenance plan going forward — so there's no gap between installation and ongoing support.

Leasing, Buying & Cost

Do you lease or sell bottleless water dispensers to corporates?

Both are available. Most of our corporate clients choose to lease, since it keeps costs predictable and bundles in installation and maintenance without a separate service contract to manage. If outright ownership suits your organisation better — for capex or accounting reasons, for example — talk to our team about purchasing instead.

What is included in a Filtech corporate leasing arrangement?

Every lease includes the dispenser unit, professional installation, and ongoing maintenance — including scheduled servicing and filter replacement. If an issue comes up between scheduled visits, support is part of the agreement, not an extra call-out fee. Exact terms are confirmed with our team during your consultation, since they vary by model and site.

Can Filtech help us compare the cost of bottled water versus a bottleless solution?

Yes — our team can walk through a cost comparison specific to your current bottled water usage during your consultation, factoring in your actual consumption rather than a generic estimate.

Is there a minimum lease term, and what happens at the end of it?

Lease terms and end-of-contract options — such as renewal or upgrading to a newer model — are discussed directly with our team based on your organisation's needs and chosen model. Talk to a water expert for specifics tailored to your agreement.

Are there volume discounts or multi-year agreements for larger accounts?

For multi-unit or multi-site deployments, talk to our team about structuring an agreement that reflects the scale of your account — this is discussed directly as part of your proposal rather than a fixed public rate card.

Service & After-Sales Support

What happens if our dispenser develops a problem?

Contact our team — for corporate bottleless dispensers, we respond in 2 hours or less. Support is part of your lease or service agreement, not a separate call-out fee, and our own technicians handle the resolution rather than an outsourced third party.

Who is responsible for filter replacement and maintenance?

Filtech is, as part of your lease or maintenance agreement — you don't need to source or replace filters yourself, or track when service is due on leased office units.

Does Filtech provide preventive maintenance?

Yes — for corporate bottleless dispensers, we carry out preventive maintenance monthly. Alongside these visits, every dispenser also runs automatic sterilization and flushing continuously, keeping the system clean between scheduled check-ins, not just at the point of one.

What happens after our warranty expires?

All purchased products carry a 1-year warranty covering non-electrical parts. Talk to your water expert about what ongoing support and servicing options look like once your warranty period ends.

Home Water Purification

What's the difference between the S7 and U5 systems, and which is right for my home?

S7 is a tankless RO system suited to any water source, including boreholes or variable-quality supply — available in 400 to 1000 GPD capacities. U5 is a 5-stage UF system built for households on municipal water, using a gentler process that retains more beneficial minerals. If your water source is uncertain, choose RO; if you're on a reliable municipal connection, UF is often the more efficient fit.

Do you sell or lease under-sink and desktop systems?

These are sold outright, not leased — this is different from our office bottleless dispenser range. You purchase the S7, U5, or desktop system as your own equipment. Installation is included in the purchase price within Nairobi. Outside Nairobi, a separate installation charge applies, confirmed as part of your quote.

Is the water safe for children and babies to drink?

Our systems are manufactured and tested to WQA, NSF, CE, RoHS, ISO 9001, and ISO 14001 standards, covering the same quality and safety benchmarks used globally for drinking water systems. If you have specific medical concerns for infant formula or a family member's health needs, it's worth discussing your exact water source with our team as well.

Will installing a filtration system affect water pressure elsewhere in my home?

Our under-sink systems are installed on a dedicated line to their own tap, so they're not designed to affect pressure at your other taps. Our team confirms your specific plumbing setup during installation to rule out any site-specific concerns.

What if I'm renting my home — can a system still be installed?

Yes, though you may want landlord approval for under-sink installation depending on your tenancy terms. If drilling or permanent modification isn't an option, our Desktop RO or Desktop UF dispensers are a countertop alternative that need no major plumbing work.

Does Filtech offer desktop dispensers if I don't have space for under-sink installation?

Yes. See our full Desktop range — Desktop RO is a fill-type unit with 3-stage filtration (PP, CTO, RO) for any water source, while Desktop UF is built for municipal water with 2-stage filtration (UF, CTO). Both are compact, countertop-friendly, and need no major plumbing — set up the same day.

Does RO filtration remove beneficial minerals, and can I get a more mineral taste?

Yes — RO's fine filtration removes minerals along with contaminants, which is part of how it achieves such thorough purification. If you'd prefer a slightly mineral taste, we offer an optional alkaline filter that re-mineralizes the water after RO filtration — ask our team about adding this to your S7 system.

How long do home filtration systems last, and what maintenance do they need?

Filter life varies by stage — the S7's CBPA stage lasts 3–6 months and its RO membrane 18–24 months, with quick-connect filters that replace in seconds without tools. S7 includes live filter monitoring; U5 filters are changed on a set schedule confirmed by our team. The system itself is built for long-term use well beyond any individual filter's lifespan.

The Bigger Picture

Is bottleless water more sustainable than bottled water?

Yes — a bottleless system removes plastic bottle consumption from your footprint entirely, along with the transport and delivery logistics that come with regular bottled water orders.

What other water technology solutions does Filtech provide?

Beyond bottleless office dispensers, we offer under-sink water purifiers (S7 RO and U5 UF) and desktop dispensers for homes, plus custom-engineered solutions for schools, restaurants, healthcare, and industrial sites.

Does Filtech provide industrial and customised water treatment solutions?

Yes — for schools, restaurants, healthcare facilities, manufacturing, and other institutional sites, we assess your site and engineer a custom solution matched to your specific volume and usage, rather than offering a fixed off-the-shelf product. See our Industrial & Custom Solutions page for how we approach this.
